Trust Administration Pitfalls of the Unwary (Trust Officer Session)

Chuck Simpson will provide a presentation entitled Pitfalls for the Unwary where he will discuss some of the challenges and best practices for trust administration.
Chuck Simpson has been working in the area of Planned Giving & Trust Services for the Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1992. He began this work as a trust officer for the Illinois Conference of SDAs and later was asked to be the Director of Planned Giving & Trust Services of the Michigan Conference of SDAs. The last fifteen years prior to his planned retirement were spent as Associate Director of Planned Giving & Trust Services for the Seventh-day Adventist World headquarters in Washington DC and as a member of the Board of Directors for the General Conference Corporation. His primary responsibility was trainer of all new Adventist church Planned Giving & Trust Services personnel within North America and administrator of personal trusts, estates and various life income gift plans.
After announcing his decision to retire to the Northwest to be near family, he was asked to become the Director of Planned Giving & Trust Services and Corporate Secretary for the North Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists which covers Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. He decided to delay his retirement and currently continues to serve in this capacity.
Chuck earned his M.Div. from the SDA Theological Seminary on the campus of Andrews University when he had to operate a real typewriter and read real books! In 2000, the American Institute for Philanthropic Studies and California State University – Long Beach Foundation granted Chuck the Certified Specialist in Planned Giving designation.
Chuck has also received specialized training in environmental site assessments from the American Society for Testing and Materials, Georgia Tech University, and the University of Missouri College of Engineering. In addition, he has completed numerous professional seminars on subjects related to charitable planned giving and Trust and Estate taxation provided by the National Committee on Planned Giving, the American Council on Gift Annuities, the Sharpe Group, Crescendo Interactive, PG Calc Software and others.
Chuck’s wealth of experience, thorough attention to detail and practical problem solving abilities make him and excellent and interesting teacher in the area of Planned Giving & Trust Services.
